The OpenCage geocoder http://geocoder.opencagedata.com provides a single API to made different geocoders like OpenStreetMap, Geonames, DSTK, etc.
The whole thing is built in perl, partially here in Barcelona (I just moved here a few months ago). I'll talk about the goals of the service, the challenges, the roadmap going forward, etc. I'll also discuss Geo::Address::Formatter a spin off project to correctly format addresses, and if time allows Geo::What3Words
